Members Events:
Past: The A.G.M. went off successfully at the Snuff Mill Environmental Centre in Morden Hall Park. The raffle raised £72, and the business meeting was followed by a very interesting talk by volunteer Eric Shaw. Thanks to Mary Hart for the excellent refreshments.

- Unfortunately, the outing to Three Mill Island booked for 16th September had to be cancelled because of the petrol problem.

Present: A Museum Christmas Party is planned for Friday 15>sup>th December at 100 Canon Hill Lane, SW20. A separate Invitation for this is enclosed with this Newsletter. We do hope to see as many of you as possible at this social event.

Monday 21 November sees the public launch of the Surrey Iron Railway blue plaque scheme, at Wandsworth's Brewery Tap. For details, and further SIR information, see article below.

Thursday 23rd November is the launch date for the new publication "An Historical Guide to Merton Abbey Mills" - see article below.

Future: We have elected to work towards our Investing in Volunteers Award. Please see the article below for more information.

London Borough of Sutton have announced new search room opening hours for their Archive and Local Studies Search room: Tuesday 2 - 5pm, Thursday 9.30 - 7.30pm, Friday 9.30 - 1 pm, 1st and 3rd Saturdays 9.30 - 1pm, 2 - 4.45 pm, 1st and 3rd Sundays 2 - 5pm, Mondays and Wednesdays closed.

In Memoriam:
We are sorry to hear of the death of Doug Cluett on 25th August. A founder member of both the Wandle Group and Wandle Heritage, and (amongst many other achievements) a major contributor to Wandle Guide and Wandle Walks, both in person and in print. He will be missed.

Museum Subscriptions are now due for 2000-2001. A renewal form is enclosed with this Newsletter. prompt payment would be much appreciated. As this is the last Newsletter before Christmas, we wish all or members and friends a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
