When this Newsletter is uploaded we hope to take that opportunity to improve the site by adding a new Nelson 2005 section, to include the time line appearing above, the Peter Warwick article on Merton Place, various images from our files, and the schedule of events being co-ordinated by London Borough of Merton.
We continue to get enquiries by email generated by the site. The latest one contains a plea for information with which we can not help from our records, but wonder whether any readers may be able to help.
Apparently there was a severe flood in Haskell Road in Summerstown/Plough Lane in September 1968. Our correspondent writes:
I think about 4-5 streets were affected we lived in the dip of the road and were hit very badly.I remember staying in Battersea Town Hall & there were stories about us in the national press. All I have is a very tatty old picture showing someone in in a rowing boat(borrowed from Battersea Park lake)I hope I have not bored you too much but I don't really think people really believe me when I tell them how bad it was!" and would appreciate any documentary evidence which supports her memories - photos, newspaper item, etc.
Can anyone help?
Anyway, here are the latest charts and graphs.
